San Francisco Skyline on Eve of Super Bowl 50

2016 Photo a Day, 37 of 366: San Francisco Skyline on Eve of Super Bowl 50

If you live in the United States, then the odds are extremely likely that you’ll be watching Super Bowl 50 tomorrow.  With the San Francisco Bay Area hosting the game (the game will actually be played in Santa Clara,  45 miles south of San Francisco) there has been quite a number of Super Bowl related activities going on in San Francisco all week.  I was in The City on Monday and it felt like a holiday weekend…everyone who works there and could was avoiding coming into town and it was unusually quiet for a work day.  At night the city has special lighting as you can see above.  The One Market Street towers have building size animations that are being projected on them, the Embarcadero Center buildings have their holiday lights turned on with the Super Bowl logo being projected on the building, and the Transamerica Pyramid has four different colors that illuminate it (the colors of the Super Bowl teams).

It’s quite a sight!  I’m glad that it was a perfect night to photograph it from across the bay at Treasure Island so I could share it with you.  Look for more Super Bowl specific skyline photos in the San Francisco gallery in the archive where Art Prints or stock licensing can be purchased.
