The Shakabuku of Nature Photography

Debi: You know what you need?
Marty: What?
Debi: Shakabuku.
Marty: You wanna tell me what that means?
Debi: It’s a swift, spiritual kick to the head that alters your reality forever.
Marty: Oh, that’d be good. I think.

I love that exchange!  And after some catch up reading of various photographer’s blogs yesterday where they were talking about photographing the fall color in the Eastern Sierra’s, my mind jumped immediately to that quote.  I’ll be heading up to Bishop, CA next weekend with a few other photographers (that I know, and I’m sure we’ll run into a lot of photographers that we don’t know…yet.).  The goal is to try to catch some great landscape and nature photography as the Aspen in the Eastern Side of the Sierra’s change color.

I’ve been doing this fall trip now for a number of years and it is one of the things I look forward to in the fall.  Something about the fall nip in the air reminds of fall back in Wisconsin.  Just being out in nature and appreciate all the views, even when not viewed through the view finder, helps to realign my psyche.  Getting out into nature is my Shakabuku. Something that I have definitely felt the lack of lately.

If you’re going to be up in the area, drop me a line and let’s see if we can connect!

While on the topic of fall color, are you looking for help in finding the prime fall color is in your area?  Then check out the Landscape Location Reports my Resources section.  There are a number of links there to sites for across the United States, helping you find the best time and places for fall, spring and times in between.

And click through on the photo to the left for more Eastern Sierra images.  A few of these have been favorites of some of my corporate clients and now adorn their office walls a prints.
