Photo: Mystic Beach Chairs

There was a slight southernly wind and the temperature had dropped a bit to the upper 70s. We were sitting out on the beach after dinner, enjoying the stars that were shining through the spotty clouds overhead. The aura from the lights for the football (soccer) field could be see across the bay. I grabbed one of the side tables from a pair of beach chairs and situated it behind a row of the chairs. Setting the camera to Time Priority mode I set the time to about 20 seconds, turned on the mirror lockup feature, put the camera on the table and pressed the shutter button twice (once to focus and flip up the mirror, the other to open the shutter).

I waited 40 seconds (20 for exposure, 20 for long exposure noise reduction) and Mystic Beach Chairs was born.
