2008 Q3 Links of Thanks

Another quarter past and time for my regular thanks to those who have referred traffic my way.  Some major changes occurred during this quarter.  First, I move my blog from Blogger to a self-hosted WordPress blog (for the record, the top refer to latogaphoto.com was my old blog from my cut over).  I am in the process of consolidating all of my photography work under the latogaphoto.com domain.  Based upon the speed of this consolidation, the latoga.com domain will drop off this regular thanks listing in the future.

2008 Q2 Links of Thanks

Wow, July is mostly past and I haven’t had a chance to put up my quarterly links of thanks. With my trip to Wisconsin and Chicago at the start of the month and then playing catchup on so many fronts upon my return (one of the joys of going on vacation) this got pushed back a bit.

Now that I have been doing this for a few quarters, it’s interesting to see changes in the top referring sites. Some sites that I haven’t used in a while, like Photo.net still appear in the top 20. I also started using Twitter in the last quarter and was surprised at how high it appeared in the rankings right away (mostly thanks to the great tool TwitterFeed). I also started using FriendFeed at the same time; it’s interesting how more people tended to click through on my photos on FriendFeed than on my blog postings.

Side Blur: It’s interesting to see how traffic flows around the internet. A comment posted to another photographer’s blog can generate traffic for months after the posting. The one surprise to me personally is how much traffic was generated from Facebook…I have a token page up there and don’t focus at all on building my network on Facebook and yet traffic comes my way from there. It is also interesting how photos on my blog will receive much more “viewing” than photos on my photo website…one of the premises behind my developing FocalPower’s widget based photo hosting…
