Who Said Jury Duty is No Fun?

Today I had the honor of performing one of the most important civic duties we have here in the US, Jury Duty. Even better, this was US Federal Court Jury Duty. I’ll refrain from commenting on the Jury Duty process (at least here, I might post something on my technology and business blog though…).

For Jury Duty, I reported to the Federal Building located at 450 Golden Gate Avenue in San Francisco. When I stepped off the elevator on the 19th floor, where the court rooms are located, I was greeted with a wonderful collection of historic photos of San Francisco.

I spent my lunch hour viewing the extensive collection of images on display and discovered that they were provided by SF Images (a subsidiary of Business Image Group) as part of a project in conjunction with the US District Courts, San Francisco. The images were all historic photos of San Francisco ranging from 1880’s up to 1940’s and are Display on the 15th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Floors. I only had the time to view photos on the 19th floor.

The Federal Building is open to the public, so if you’re in the area and have a half hour or more to burn, try stopping in and checking them out. NOTE: You will have to walk through a metal detector and have a valid photo id to enter. As long as your quite and respectful on the floor, there is no reason for you not to be there (after all, if your a US tax payer you’re paying the rent through your taxes and court rooms are open to the public).

  1. I am glad you liked the work we created for the Courts, and that it positively influenced your experience as a juror – our intension in created this project was driven by a profound interest and respect for the local community the US courts served. We had the honor of producing this work with the Judge’s, who were very passionate about this work – it was one of the most rewarding projects that we have created – best, Bennett Hall
