2016 Photo a Day, 31 of 366: Mystical Ocean Portal

This circular window in the Kelp Forest tank at the Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of my favorite places to photograph. It started with a photo of my son that made my 2015 Favorite Photos list.  And every visit I am drawn back to that window.  I think it’s because of the high contrast between the cement of the  window and the blue of the tank. The lighting there is also very soft which adds great texture to the cement frame of the window.  During a trip to the aquarium with the family today, I was patient enough to catch one of the sharks swimming straight up past the window.  Something spooked him from below…
