Is Nikon Marketing Hurting Professional Photographers?

It just hit me the other day, is Nikon’s marketing hurting professional photographers? I was watching TV when the Nikon commercial came on that featured Ashton Kutcher taking photos at a wedding. Of course, the whole point of marketing is to make the product shine. In this case, the Nikon D60 makes taking photos so simple that a guest can take all the photos from the wedding.

I wonder how many couples who are about to get married believe the marketing too much.

“Ahh, we don’t need a professional wedding photographer. The guest can take all the photos for us!”

Great for Nikon to sell more cameras to the mass market, but at the cost of their professional photographers?
