Every year San Francisco’s de Young Museum holds an event called “Bouquets to Art“. Top floral designers from the Bay Area interpret selected works of art from the museum using fresh flowers and their floral design skills. This year, over 130 floral designers created works for the show.

My wife is a floral designer and dragged me to this year’s show kicking and screaming with my camera in tow! Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration…but the amazing works of art, both on the walls and in the water, were impressive. In the case of the tie dyed roses, I felt they were a work of art in their own right…

If your in the San Francisco area, I highly recommend the de Young Museum. The new building (just re-opened in 2006 after years of work) is a delight for the visual senses itself. The museum is located in Golden Gate park and is right near the Japanese Tea Garden and the California Academy of Sciences (which is currently under a re-construction itself). There is more than enough photographic opportunities for a whole day just within walking distance!
