This image was taken inside Milan’s Duomo facing the stained glass windows behind the alter. The ceiling above the alter has amazing detail of various scenes. Is it hard to image the labor needed to carve the stone that would be used on the ceiling? It was for the builders, that’s why the entire ceiling is painted to look like carved stone!
I wish this type of architecture wasn’t a thing of the past. The attention to detail in such places amazes me.
